Significant event

The most significant event that happened to me was when both of my grandfathers’ almost died during the same week. It was sophomore year, and it was the week we were playing Reynoldsburg in football. My mom came and got me from school and told me that both of my grandfathers were in the hospital. My grandfather on my dad’s side of the family has diabetes, and he ate something that he wasn’t supposed to eat and he got really sick. He was suffering from liver failure while on the way to the hospital. My grandfather on my mom’s side had a stroke while at work. The doctor said he was in good health but it was his heavy use of alcohol when he was younger what caused it. Both of the doctors said that there was a slim chance of them making it. That week alone was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. This happening showed me that you can’t take life for granted, and what you do now can harm you in your future. It also reminded me that I have to take care of my body, and to not do harmful things to it.

Sweat blog

The theme that stands out the most in this short story would have to be courage. When Syke brought that rattlesnake home, she was terrified of it and could barely move. “One day as Delia came down the kitchen she saw his chalky-white fangs curved like scimitars hung in the wire meshes. This time she did not run away with averted eyes as usual. She stood for a long time in the doorway in a red fury that grew bloodier for every second that she regarded the creature that was her torment”(6).. Delia finally stood up to her worst fear in snakes to stand and watch it for a long time. Also when Syke would threaten Delia and beat her until she had enough. “She seized the iron skillet from the stove and struck a defensive pose” (2). Delia had enough of getting treated bad by Syke and finally chooses to fight back.

This I Believe Essay

Dante Carroll This I Believe Essay I believe that hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard. This is for all the people who are not recognized for the effort they put in, and may not play because another player. There are many occasions all over the world where a player is extremely lazy and thinks he/she does not have to work hard or practice. Then turn around and start the next game. While there is someone else training day and night just to get their efforts recognized by the coach. You may or may not be in that position. If you are do NOT give up. Even though that it may seem like there is no one watching you or paying you any attention, there will be that one person who will give you a chance. The wait will seem like forever but it will pay off. Trust me; it took me two and a half years for coaches to recognize that I had talent through my hard work and effort in practice. When I got the opportunity to play I made the best of it and showed them all the hard work I put in during the off season and in season made me better. Do not give up especially if it is a sport you are extremely passionate about. Just keep working hard and your time will eventually come.

I believe essays

Afterlife Pennies from Heaven American Patriotism American Dream lives on Humor& Laughter Creating our own Happiness Sports Pick-Up Basketball Pets& Animals Teaching a Bad Dog New Tricks The first essay I read was “Pennies from Heaven”. This essay was about an older man whose wife died of cancer, and how she would collect pennies for good luck. He would usually walk past and not pay any attention to the pennies he would pass by. Once his wife died, he decided to collect pennies in her remembrance. He never knew how much he had until he had to get a bigger bowl. He talked about how he went places and everywhere he went the found a penny. It was also happening to his close ones like his sister, son, and even best friend. Someone told him that angels leave pennies to praise him for doing something good.

Timed Writting

Man, a lot of things have changed from the beginning of the year when we first made the list. There is a little one running around my house now. I am officially attending Bluffton University and playing football. My signing will be sometime later this year. Also, my old coach that recruited me to go there left for a better job. It really shook me at first when I heard the news because he was one of the reasons I decided to go there and play. It was going to be a better transition for me because he was there, but I talked to him and he said that I would be a good fit and to stay. I was honestly thinking about not going there and just walk on to a bigger school like Toledo, Cincinnati, or even Ohio. My senior year hasn’t been the best, but I am making it better as I am going along. Senior year is hands down the fastest year of high school.

Boston Marathon

I think that the Boston marathon was terrible. Many innocent people were injured because someone’s selfish act of terrorism. I remember falling asleep and then waking up to people tweeting pray for Boston. As I scroll down the timeline I see that bombs went off at a marathon. I instantly turn it to sports center and when I saw what had happened I was speechless. My eyes were glued to the TV for literally hours. When I found out that there were two additional bombs I had a sigh of relief that the additional two bombs that were found did not go off.

Prompt C

I was running for my life after the Germans torched the dentist office I was hiding in. I was so close to being burnt to a crisp. I jumped out the window not knowing how weak I was. My ankle collapsed and I got a sharp pain shooting through my ankle. I need to hurry up and find a way out of here before they kill me. There is nothing except the wall where I escaped. As I am frantically climbing over the wall I all see is blown up buildings. I am trying to get out of sight but with my broken ankle I am struggling to get inside the building. I haven’t eaten in weeks, and I am also dying of thirst. I found the building where I used to play piano in and I immediately looking for food. I find pickles, and I am extremely excited to get the can open. I am looking for something to open up this can of pickles, and I find a knife and stone to open it. I start to get it open, and I happen to turn around and what I saw made my heart drop.

vocab story 4

I have a watch that was bequeathed from my great grandfather. He was affiliated with the OCOA. Which stands for the Original Citizens of Amsterdam. From what I heard, he was described to be omniscient. He was a man of high esteem, and was invulnerable to anything. He had an uncanny skill at the game of horseshoes. They once said that he had a panacea for everything. He was loved by all and even if he did do anything wrong, he was venial. He once had a whole group of mercenaries to converge to talk about peace offerings. He was always nonchalant. Never did he skulk.

Both Elie weasel and Wladyslaw szpilman were taken out of their homes and put in ghettos. Elie was younger than Wladyslaw so he acted out of emotion when things happened and not reason. Both were Jewish obviously. Since Wlady was older he had connections with the police, and other people who could help him and his family. One thing that is different is that Wlady got to escape from the labor camps unlike Elie who had to stay until they were liberated. The fact that he got to escape made him feel like he could do more things. Like when they were taking bricks from the wall he was able to get bread from the store. Also, he was able to smuggle guns to the other side so they would be able to fight back. We both know how that went. Elie had someone to live for in his father, and he gave him life advice. As for Wlady he only had himself.

Blog B

Man’s inhumanity towards man is very apparent in this film. For instance, when the Nazi’s went into the Jewish people’s house and threw one of them out of the window because he could not walk. Or when the Nazi’s selected some Jewish people out of a line and shot them dead. I do not really think that the film is getting away from the theme. There is one example when an old man tries to steal a can of beans from an old woman. As they are struggling and the old woman is yelling for help people are just watching. The can of beans drop to the floor and the man is scarfing down the food off the dirty asphalt while the woman runs off and cries. One thing that does not happy in Elie Weise’s Memoir is that he does not know someone who was a part of the police and he got his brother out of jail, and to get him and his family out of the labor camps.

Night Reflection

First off, the book itself was ok. I really don’t enjoy reading so it was tough powering through it in two days. What Elie went through as a teenager was pretty rough. Being separated from your mother and siblings had to be terrible. I think his father is what allowed him to survive. They were each other’s reasons to live, and when his father died he was devastated. I also learned that there were nice Nazi’s. I thought that they were all cruel. The hardest part for me to read was when the SS hung the little boy. Also, when one of the rabbi’s sons beat him to death for food.

Blog Prompt 2

Part 1: I think the bond between Elie and his father is pretty strong. “My father’s presence was the only thing that stopped me [from allowing myself to die]. . . . I had no right to let myself die. What would he do without me? I was his only support.” That to me says that his father means a lot to him if just his presence is keeping him alive. Part 2: Elie and the other Jewish people were at the worst death camp there was.Which was Auschwitz. The camp was located in Poland. It was operated by the German SS. They killed about 1.1 million Jewish people.

Vocab story

As I am walking around the room meticulously, I finally come across the credit card that we’ve been looking for. I was extolled for my discovery. They all said it was impossible to find that credit card. I told them that it was a feasible task, but it would just take a while. In the corner of my eye, I see someone with a grimace. I am suspecting duplicity. Little did I know my life would soon be in jeopardy. Impervious to pain, I wonder what all could she really do. I notice her scrutinizing me as I am talking to my friend. I instantly get a feeling of nostalgia . I take a sip of my tepid juice and leave.

Intro Blog

Hello friends, my name is Dante Carroll I am 17 and I am a senior at Gahanna Lincoln High School. I played football for my varsity football team. I did not get to play my senior year because I broke my collarbone during a scrimmage at Cleveland St. Edwards. I have many hobbies as an average 17 year old male. I like cars; I like to learn about cars, look at cars, discovering new cars, and playing racing video games. I spend a lot of my time buried in my deep freezer of a basement playing my ps3. I am an avid gamer if I must say. This was a little bit about me and what I like to do.
